We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to install and use SwapCam. You may use it for personal and commercial work alike — creators, streamers and businesses are all welcome, subject to the limits below.

This is a licence to use the extension, not ownership of it. We retain all rights in the software itself.

• Impersonate a real person in order to deceive, defraud, harass, or gain access to something you would otherwise be refused — including identity verification, interviews, and financial processes.
• Use someone’s likeness without permission, including public figures, and including people who cannot meaningfully consent.
• Create sexual content involving anyone’s likeness without their explicit consent, and never involving minors under any circumstances.
• Break the law where you are — synthetic-media, disclosure and consent rules vary considerably between jurisdictions, and they are your responsibility.
• Redistribute or resell the extension as your own, or strip out its identifying marks.

SwapCam transforms video on your machine at your instruction. What you produce with it, who you show it to, and how you label it are your decisions and your responsibility. We do not review, moderate or even see your output — as the Privacy policy explains, it never reaches us.

If your use of SwapCam causes harm to someone else, that is between you and them, and you agree not to hold us liable for it.

SwapCam installs as an unpacked Chrome extension with Developer mode enabled. That is a normal way to run software Chrome has not distributed, but it does mean you are choosing to load code from a folder rather than from the Web Store. Download it only from this site, keep the extracted folder somewhere you control, and review the permissions Chrome shows you.

You are responsible for your own hardware, your own Chrome installation, and for having a camera that works. Performance varies between machines, and we make no promise about frame rates or quality on any particular computer.

SwapCam works alongside browser-based video applications that we do not operate. Those services have their own terms, and several platforms restrict or prohibit altered camera feeds. Complying with the rules of whatever service you point SwapCam at is up to you — our permission is not theirs.

SwapCam is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with any particular service, or fit for any particular purpose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of SwapCam — including lost profits, lost data, reputational harm, or claims brought against you by third parties.

You can end it at any time by removing the extension from Chrome and deleting the folder. We may end it if you use SwapCam in the ways section 2 prohibits. Because the software runs locally, in practice that means you lose the right to keep using it, and the obligations in sections 3, 6 and 7 continue to apply to whatever you did while you had it.

We may update these terms as the product develops. The date at the top of this page records the last change. Continuing to use SwapCam after an update means you accept the revised terms; if you do not, uninstall it.
